When Notre-Dame burned in 2019, the world watched in anguish—and rejoiced when the decision was made to rebuild it exactly as it had been. Why does a medieval cathedral still move us so deeply? What is it about the world that created Notre-Dame that continues to capture our imagination?
In this thought-provoking presentation, Dr. Chad Engelland explores the surprising joy at the heart of the High Middle Ages. From the smiling faces of saints, angels, and kings carved into Europe’s great cathedrals to the vibrant faith and vision that inspired them, he uncovers the source of a distinctly Christian happiness that shaped an entire civilization.
Join us as we examine what made this era so remarkable—and what modern men can learn from its enduring sense of purpose, beauty, and transcendent joy.
